How To Set Facebook Pictures To Private. Any image that you're tagged in "belongs" to somebody else. Unless it's an image of you that you tagged yourself in.,
If it's a photo of you that you took and tagged yourself in, you "own" the image, and are for that reason in charge of its personal privacy settings. You can choose "Only Me" from the drown down menu on the picture, thus:
Photos that others have tagged you in will remain public, even if you remove the tag from that photo Whoever published the picture that your tagged in "owns" that picture.
To remove a tag, click the drop down arrow at the top of the post/ photo and click "Remove Tag":

You can also alter your timeline privacy settings. These are mine:
Go to settings from the drop down menu:.
Then select "Timeline and Tagging".
You'll be able to manage exactly what can be published on your timeline, and if you see somebody has actually tagged a photo of you, you can eliminate the tag and pick to hide it from your timeline.
Facebook will inform you to anyone who's tagged you in anything on your actual timeline, at the bottom right of your cover photo.
In summary, just your own material can be made private. Anything you've been tagged in by others will be public - but you have the option to conceal this material from your timeline.
