Facebook Lite Apk Download, Early this early morning, Facebook uploaded a brand-new, lost weight variation of their app dubbed Facebook Lite to the Google Play Shop. Focused on low-end devices in emerging markets where cellular data is a little slower, we need to confess, we were plenty delighted at the possibility of a 2G-friendly variation of the generally bloated Facebook app.
Soon after installation, our optimism was met with cold tough reality-- this app was little more than a wrapper for the mobile web view (ie, it's almost similar to checking out m.facebook.com). Okay, so there are some key differences. There's no videos (like, at all) and unlike opening Facebook in your phone's web browser, Facebook Lite will offer you with push notices on your Android gadget, useful if you're awaiting an important message and desire to stay up to date with pals without needing to refresh the web browser.
The trade off? Facebook Lite-- which is marketed as less than 1MB (252KB), but really took up 1.16 MB after setup-- requests a fair quantity of authorizations from your Android device, much like the full fledged 114MB (after setup) regular variation of the app (just without the location data). Oh, did we discuss it's sluggish?
Even on WiFi, the app is slow to load, sluggish to scroll, and slow to switch between News Feed, your messages, and notifications. Even with a high-end Snapdragon 801 equipped Android device, the "app" directly feels like molasses. But as we discussed, you do get direct access to your messages without having to set up Facebook Messenger, so there's that.
We believe Facebook truly had something here and were truly expecting a quicker, lighter, less function heavy, Facebook app for those of who don't need all the frill of sticker shops and the like. Unfortunately, Facebook Lite actually just doesn't cut it.
